Post-hiring vetting services by two companies, HireRight LLC, headquartered in Irvine, California, and Scottsdale’s I’ve Been Vetted LLC, suggest a need to revamp the hiring system.
Employers may be worried that their personnel have deficient screening skills. Are competition for talent and an accelerated workplace culture nurturing unreasonable time lines? Psychologist and business consultant Michael Klein, principal of MK Insights LLC in Northampton, Massachusetts, favors good vetting, because the established practice of strongly weighting a hiring decision on interview performance is flawed. “To me the time is prior to extending an offer,” remarks Andrew Miller, president & CEO of Brain Works Inc., an executive recruiting and search firm in New Providence, New Jersey. “Buyer beware. Your job on the front end is to vet.”
