POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Automation Sales Engineer plays a critical role in driving business growth and industry recognition. This position involves tracking custom automation trends across various market verticals, converting research into actionable prospecting, and positioning The Company as a premier automation, integration, and custom automation manufacturing company. The Automation Sales Engineer is responsible for initiating customer contact, managing key accounts, hunting for new prospects, and converting opportunities into sales. The role also includes meeting quarterly lead generation targets and leveraging The Company Proven Process to cultivate sales opportunities.

- Develop and Manage Customer Relationships
- Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing customers.
- Act as a trusted advisor to clients by understanding their automation challenges and providing tailored solutions.
- Prospect and Generate New Business
- Identify potential customers through cold calling, networking, and market research.
- Leverage inside sales and marketing resources to qualify and pursue leads.
- Convert Market Research into Sales Opportunities
- Analyze industry trends and competitive landscape to identify areas for growth.
- Develop actionable sales strategies to target high-value prospects.
- Close Sales and Drive Revenue Growth
- Present technical solutions effectively to secure new business.
- Manage the sales cycle from initial contact to contract closure.
- Achieve Sales and Lead Generation Targets
- Meet or exceed quarterly sales quotas and gross margin goals.
- Track and report key sales metrics, ensuring continuous pipeline development.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
- Customer Problem Solving (30%):
- Identify and address automation challenges for current customers.
- Communicate customer requirements to Engineering and Applications teams.
- Grow existing accounts by understanding customer needs and offering tailored solutions.
- New Business Development (50%):
- Research market verticals and track custom automation trends.
- Cold call and prospect for new opportunities weekly.
- Collaborate with marketing and inside sales teams to vet opportunities.
- Drive The Company’s position as an industry leader through customer visits and presentations.
- Required to be in territory, at least two days a week strengthening relationships and facilitate sales discussions.
- Team Collaboration (20%):
- Work with internal resources to track project timelines and provide feedback on quotes.
- Collaborate on team strategies to ensure alignment with customer requirements and technical needs.
- Support the broader sales and applications teams in aligning solutions with market demands.
- Attend industry events and trade shows to build brand awareness.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or a related technical field (preferred).
- 3+ years of experience in industrial sales, automation, or a related technical field.
- Strong technical acumen in automation, integration, or machine manufacturing.
- Proven ability to build relationships and convert leads into sales.
- Experience using CRM systems and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Willingness to travel up to 35% for customer visits and industry events.
