No Slowing Down
It’s Thanksgiving week. For many (not in sales), it’s the beginning of the end. People start manufacturing all kinds of excuses on why things can’t get finished/get started/get bought/get sold…you name it. Thanksgiving week leads to the week after Thanksgiving, when many have a Thanksgiving hangover. Then there’s about two weeks in December when things run semi-normally, but not really. Oops! We’re at December 15th…ish. Now people begin checking out for Christmas, which stretches all the way until January 2. January 2, 2019 is a Wednesday. Count the rest of that week as shot for many. They’ll be recovering from the Holidays. Six weeks of woulda/shoulda/coulda/can’t/won’t. You name it.
Will this year be different? The economy is in a different place. The job market is in a different place. Supply and demand are in a different place. Will that change attitudes and behaviors? We will see.
I can speak for Simply Driven. We aren’t slowing down. We aren’t letting up. Business is good, and the way business stays good is if we continue to execute at a high level. Over the years, I’ve learned that The Best don’t make excuses – they figure out how to deliver. Doesn’t matter what time of year, what time of day. They just get things done.
The Holidays are upon us. How are you going to approach them? Should you refresh? Definitely. Should you be with family? Of course. But don’t use that as an excuse to be mediocre. Michelangelo had the same 24 hours in a day that we do.
