The Power of Working Together

We’re all being impacted by the Coronavirus.  Some more than others.  I, like you perhaps, am consuming lots of information on the topic.  I’m watching the briefings…then analyzing the briefing…then watching other people analyze the briefings.

In spite of all the uncertainty and the unknowns, I find myself feeling very encouraged and very proud.  It’s obvious to me that the smartest people in America – who also are the smartest in the world – are working 24/7 to solve this problem.  I’m in awe of their intellect and insight and experience.  These are all things I don’t understand, and I am comforted to know that others who are blessed with these amazing gifts are fully focused on helping people like you and me.

I’m also so proud of the cooperation and collaboration we are witnessing among the government, the private sector and our citizens.  It’s unfortunate that all too often it takes a crisis to get us on the same page, but we seem to be there right now.  We all want the same thing.  We want the virus eliminated, we want others to be healthy and we want our lives to return to normal.  Routines are powerful and meaningful.  Ours have been disrupted.  Hopefully, not for long.

I saw a meme online that said, “Your grandparents were asked to fight in a war.  You’re being asked to stay in your house.  You’ll be fine.”  It made me chuckle.  Perspective is a powerful thing, isn’t it?

There are some things in life you can’t go around.  The only way is through.  The virus won’t go away unless we kill it.  So, let’s do all the things we’re being asked to do and kill this thing.  As my Dad used to say, “Sometimes you just gotta do the deal.”  This is one of those times.

Soon we will win, by the power of working together.
